The End!

Image
Congratulations to Family Services of NEW on receiving our $10,000 grant.  At the beginning of this week, we held our event to announce and award the recipient of our grant.  We had a great turnout of other students, faculty and staff members, along with some community members.  Our decision was hard, but with a lot of thinking and discussing, our class was able to come to an agreement and do what we have been waiting for all semester!  The journey throughout the semester was enjoyable, challenging at times, and a great learning experience.  This class provided a unique opportunity for us to learn in a different way and it gave us many memories that we can appreciate when looking back on our college experience.  Thanks to the Learning by Giving Foundation, UWGB, Dr. Warner, and anyone else who made this possible.  Thank you for following along with us this semester!

Finalist Chosen!

Our class is excited to announce that we have chosen our finalist to receive our grant. This well deserving organization has been notified and is very pleased. However, our class is keeping it a secret to the rest of the public until we reveal the recipient at our grant giving celebration at 4:00 p.m. Monday April 30, 2018. We are all truly thankful for the experiences this class has given us and we are ecstatic to finally give this grant!

Why We Care About The Issue of Human Trafficking

Our Class and The Impact It Has Made On The Students

Site Visits

Image
These past two weeks, our class has gone on site visits to our three finalists: Green Bay Area Public School District, Eye Heart World and Brown County Family Services. During these site visits, we have learned more about their proposed plans for our grant and seen the places where the grant will help. These organizations do great work in the community of Brown County and we thank them for their hard work. But now it's our turn to get down to business. Beginning today, we will be making the decision for our grant. We are excited to get started!

Final Three

It has been an exciting few weeks in our class! After releasing our Request for Proposal, we waited in anticipation for the proposals that we would receive. After the April 2nd deadline, the class received four different proposals to look over and review. After much research, discussion, and deliberation within the class, we narrowed the proposals down to the top three. The top three proposals have come from Eye Heart World, Family Services, and the Green Bay Public School District. Currently, we are in the midst of doing site visits and will be finishing up with our last visit on Wednesday. Our class is grateful for all of the organizations who submitted proposals and have shown that they are dedicated to combating the issue of human trafficking in our area. Information and pictures from each of the site visits will be posted later this week. You will not want to miss our next post, as it may reveal key information that we have learned from each of the organizatio

Increasing Our Knowledge on Human Trafficking

As a class we have been trying to learn more about human trafficking and how it has affected the lives of people locally and globally. Last week in class we learned about an organization called The Exodus Road. This organization works to find and free victims of human trafficking. The Exodus Road website offers more information about their mission and provides real life stories of victims. Below is a link to the website, feel free to learn more about this organization and in increase your knowledge on human trafficking.   https://theexodusroad.com/stories
