Request for Proposal
2018 Request for Proposal
Overview
For the fifth
consecutive year, the Learning by Giving Foundation will grant $10,000 to an
organization chosen by the University of Wisconsin Green Bay’s 2018 Strategic
Philanthropy course. Through this course, students become involved in the
philanthropic process as they identify an issue in their community and
strategically award one-time funding to a 501(c)(3) organization to address the
issue.
We are seeking
proposals for programs to educate and increase awareness of human trafficking
in the Brown County community. Human trafficking is a growing trend in our
area, but there is a common misconception among community members that
trafficking doesn’t happen here. With greater awareness and knowledge of the
problem, we believe that trafficking can be reduced and eventually eradicated.
Goal
Our goal is to provide education about how
to recognize and prevent human trafficking to individuals at risk of becoming
trafficked and/or those who encounter or know them (such as teachers,
group home staff, hotel staff, parents, guardians, etc.) Areas of education may include, but are not
limited to:
- Understanding the scope/nature of the issue
- Recognizing trafficking
activities
- Identifying potential
victims
- Responding to suspected
trafficking
- Preventing future
victimization
We particularly encourage projects that:
·
Use creative and innovative approaches
·
Have the potential to become a sustainable program or
catalyst for other programs
·
May be replicated or used outside our community
